About Desert Sky Travel and Tourism
Desert Sky Travel and Tourism was founded by Mr. Mehdhar Nasser Zayed Mohtam.
Mr. Mehdhar began guiding tourists across Yemen's deserts while still a student. His passion for knowledge led him to INTI International University in Malaysia in 2009 and later to Egypt to study culture and politics. From 2012 to 2014, he worked with Yemen's Ministry of Tourism, and from 2014 to 2024, he dedicated himself to humanitarian work across southern Yemen.
The Beginning
Mr. Mehdhar was born in 1989 in Marib, Yemen, where he completed his education at Al-Nahda School in 2006. His journey into tourism began early. As a student, he accompanied tourists and tribal guides across Yemen's vast deserts until 2008.
The Pursuit of Knowledge
Driven by a thirst for learning, Mehdhar traveled to Malaysia and Egypt. He graduated from INTI International University in Malaysia in 2009 with a qualification in English, then studied culture and politics in Egypt until 2011.
Tourism and Humanitarian Work
Upon returning to Yemen, he joined the Ministry of Tourism from 2012 to 2014, where he helped map new destinations and develop tourism opportunities. At the same time, he began humanitarian work, supporting international organizations in southern Yemen. Until 2024, he worked to assist vulnerable communities, support refugees, and lead cultural exchange programs.
The Birth of Desert Sky
Desert Sky Travel & Tourism was founded on April 9, 2025 on the island of Socotra, Yemen.
Our mission is simple: to provide unique, once-in-a-lifetime travel experiences that go beyond ordinary tourism, while fostering genuine cultural understanding.
We now offer diverse international tours designed to explore nature, culture, and heritage, exceeding our clients' expectations while building bridges between communities worldwide.

Through our Humanitarian Emergency Fund and Crisis Support Center, our local and international teams report emergencies on the ground, allowing us to provide direct cash and in-kind assistance and maintain continuous support for those in need.

Desert Sky Travel and Tourism aims to stimulate tourism in the country, raise economic performance, and promote trade in local products and heritage goods that convey Yemen's cultural message to the world. We support local communities in our tourist destinations by providing healthcare, shelter, water, food, and external scholarships to learn foreign languages. We also offer tourism training courses to secure employment opportunities for them in Yemen or abroad, whether with Desert Sky or any other tourism company. We are committed to empowering local communities, especially in world-class tourist areas, and ensuring they have a sustainable source of livelihood.
