A high-level meeting was held this morning at the local authority headquarters in Mukalla, chaired by the Director General of the Directorate, Mr. Fayyad Faraj Ba'amer, and attended by the Director General of the Tourism Office in the Hadhramaut Coast, Mr. Magdi Bashadi, and the Director of the Tourism Police, Colonel Ahmed Saleh Barshid.
The meeting focused on assessing the current state of tourism in the city and discussing mechanisms to activate the role of the Tourism Police as a cornerstone for advancing this vital sector and developing the efficiency of its personnel.
The meeting addressed several key points, including joint cooperation through establishing new avenues for coordination between the local authority and the Tourism Office to formulate a unified action plan, working to develop tourist facilities to meet modern international standards, and creating a suitable environment for the Tourism Police to enable them to perform their duties using modern methods that reflect a civilized image and enhance the attraction of visitors and investors.
During the meeting, Professor Fayyad Ba'amer emphasized the strategic importance of the tourism sector in boosting public revenues and developing the local economy, stressing that the local authority prioritizes revitalizing the tourism sector. He also expressed the directorate's full readiness to work collaboratively with the tourism office to achieve the desired transformation.
For his part, Professor Magdi Bashadi commended the pivotal role and ongoing cooperation of the local authority leadership in Mukalla, noting that the coming period will witness intensified efforts and joint initiatives aimed at reshaping the tourism landscape in a manner befitting the city's stature and history.
