The Minister of Public Works and Roads, Engineer Hussein Al-Aqrab, met today in the interim capital, Aden, with the French Ambassador to Yemen, Catherine Garm Kamoun, to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the areas of roads and infrastructure and their development.
During the meeting, which was also attended by the Deputy Minister, Dr. Mohammed Thabet, the two sides reviewed the most prominent challenges facing the public works sector and the urgent need to develop road networks and improve infrastructure, which would contribute to supporting economic development and facilitating transportation.
Al-Aqrab emphasized the Ministry's keenness to expand cooperation with the French side and benefit from their expertise in implementing road projects and improving infrastructure, which would contribute to supporting development efforts and improving services provided to citizens.
The Minister addressed the most prominent challenges facing the roads and infrastructure sector in Yemen under the current circumstances, noting the importance of supporting vital projects related to the maintenance and rehabilitation of main roads and strengthening the capabilities of technical and engineering institutions. He affirmed that the Ministry is working on preparing plans and projects aimed at improving the road network and increasing its efficiency.
For her part, the French ambassador affirmed her country’s keenness to enhance cooperation with Yemen in various fields, including the roads and infrastructure sector, praising the efforts of the Ministry of Public Works and Roads in improving services and developing vital projects.
