Socotra- Desert Sky
The Socotra Heritage Foundation conducted an awareness tour targeting students at the Kuwait Complex and the College of Education. The tour aimed to introduce students to traditional Socotra folk games and raise awareness of the importance of preserving them as an integral part of the cultural and heritage identity of the Socotra archipelago.
This event is part of the "Youth Employment through Heritage" project, funded by the Small and Micro Enterprise Development Agency, in partnership with UNESCO and the European Union. The project supports initiatives aimed at protecting cultural heritage and engaging youth in its revival and preservation.
During the tour, students were introduced to a number of traditional Socotra games that formed an important part of their ancestors' lives. The role of these games in strengthening social bonds and transmitting values and customs between generations was also discussed.
The event witnessed widespread interaction and great enthusiasm from the participants, many of whom expressed their delight at learning about traditional games they had never encountered before.
The foundation also distributed an informational magazine about Socotra folk games to the participants, with the aim of documenting this cultural heritage and making it available to future generations.
