Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Mukhtar al-Yafei, emphasized the importance of regulating charitable and humanitarian work within an institutional framework that ensures the equitable distribution of aid, directs it to priorities, and prevents duplication or deviation from its objectives.
This came during his meeting today in the interim capital, Aden, with representatives of several civil society organizations to discuss ways to strengthen partnerships and develop mechanisms for charitable and humanitarian work.
Minister al-Yafei, in the presence of Deputy Minister Dr. Sadiq al-Jama’i, listened to the representatives' presentations on their activities in the fields of health, education, shelter for displaced persons, and humanitarian work. They also discussed their geographical scope of work, the level of coordination with donors, the most significant challenges they face, and their commitment to working within legal frameworks, adhering to principles of transparency, and under the supervision of relevant authorities.
He pointed to the ministry's efforts to expand partnerships with countries and international organizations, based on a comprehensive vision that prioritizes facilitating the work of active civil society organizations and helping them overcome difficulties and obstacles, in coordination with government agencies and donor partners.
Minister Al-Yafai explained that civil society organizations represent the government's active arm in implementing programs on the ground, emphasizing the importance of integrating official and community efforts to serve citizens without discrimination, thereby strengthening stability and supporting the development process.
