The Board of Directors of Yemen Airways held its periodic meeting in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, chaired by Chairman Captain Nasser Mahmoud Mohammed, and attended by board members, to discuss the operational and development plans and efforts of the national carrier (Yemenia).
During the meeting, the company's operational and financial performance over the recent period was reviewed, along with the positive results regarding expanding the flight network and improving the quality of services provided.
According to a statement received by Desert Sky, the meeting also reviewed the operational plans for 2026, which include expanding international destinations, increasing the number of flights on existing routes, and improving operational efficiency to raise the level of service for Yemeni passengers both domestically and abroad.
The meeting also addressed the latest developments in fleet modernization, including progress in cooperation with Airbus and options for enhancing the fleet with modern and efficient aircraft to meet increasing demand. It also assessed the significant success of launching new international routes, particularly the direct route between Jeddah and Socotra, which represents a qualitative leap in strengthening air connectivity and revitalizing tourism in the Socotra archipelago, thus supporting the local economy and facilitating passenger movement. This is in addition to the regular flights from Al-Mukha and Socotra airports to Jeddah.
Chairman of the Board, Captain Nasser Mahmoud, expressed the government's appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for the Kingdom's continued support for Yemen and its national institutions, especially its support for the national carrier and development projects.
The Board of Directors affirmed that Yemen Airways remains the primary national carrier for all Yemenis and a vital lifeline connecting the nation to the world, with a steadfast commitment to supporting national efforts for development and stability. The Board also commended the dedicated efforts of everyone serving the national carrier during these exceptional circumstances facing the country. In this context, the Board of Directors of Yemen Airways congratulated Mr. Mohsen Haidara on his appointment as Minister of Transport, after he had served as the company's Deputy Director General for Commercial Affairs. The Board commended his significant and positive contributions to the development of Yemen Airways and wished him success in his new role leading the Ministry of Transport.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Yemen Airways presented Minister of Transport Mohsen Haidara Al-Amri with a commemorative plaque in recognition of his past contributions and efforts in serving the company and supporting its national mission.
