The Republic of Yemen participated in the World Tourism Ministerial Conference, held today in the German capital, Berlin, with a delegation headed by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mutie Damaj.
In his address, Minister Damaj highlighted the promising future investment opportunities in Yemen's tourism sector and its unique historical, natural, and cultural assets, which qualify it to be a distinguished tourist destination in the region, provided the appropriate conditions for stability and development are met. He emphasized that the Republic of Yemen's vision is to empower tourism as a practical driver of development and recovery, and that investment in tourism is not merely an economic investment, but also an investment in stability, in preserving culture, in strengthening social cohesion, and in building trust between peoples.
Minister Damaj pointed to the destruction and devastation inflicted on Yemen's infrastructure by the Houthi terrorist militia's coup, noting the efforts undertaken by the government in liberated areas, with the support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to overcome the effects of the war, stabilize state institutions, promote peace, and integrate society into shaping Yemen's present and future.
He added, "Nevertheless, the need for support remains significant to rehabilitate infrastructure, improve services, and enhance institutional efficiency, thereby creating a safe and attractive environment for investment and tourism." He emphasized that Yemen aspires to effective partnerships that will build a scalable model based on good governance, responsible investment, capacity building, and digital transformation.
The conference was attended by Yemen's Ambassador to Germany, Luay Yahya Al-Eryani, and the embassy's Investment Relations Officer, Nashwan Al-Rajawi.
