Minister of Information Muammar al-Iryani announced that the Socotra Archipelago is confidently moving towards full recovery and reconstruction. He indicated that international flights will resume at the beginning of February, along with the return of domestic flights, representing a strategic step to restore the island's natural position at the heart of the country and connect it to the outside world.
The minister revealed that significant progress has been made in basic services, with electricity operating around the clock in the provincial capital, Hadibu. The health sector has also witnessed tangible development with the arrival of specialized medical personnel at Hadibu Hospital and the performance of the first surgical operations. This coincides with the securing of fuel and cooking gas supplies via commercial and service vessels.
As part of relief efforts, al-Iryani affirmed the continuation of the air bridge of food aid to the people of the province to ensure food security. This is being carried out in parallel with the implementation of development projects and service infrastructure aimed at consolidating stability and supporting the island's economic and tourism future.
The minister concluded his statement by expressing his appreciation for the sincere and fraternal support of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, praising its pivotal role in cooperation and on-the-ground work. He described the Saudi support as "real development and responsible support" that sends a message of reassurance to the people that Socotra is on a safe path towards a better future.
