The Governor of the Archipelago of Socotra, Engineer Raafat Ali Al-Thaghli, today, presided over a meeting "in which representatives of tourist agencies in the province, in the presence of the Governor of the Governor for Culture and Tourism Affairs, Mr. Yahya bin Afrar, and the General Manager of the Tourism Office, Mr. Mubarak Ali Amer.
The meeting discussed a number of issues related to the organization of tourism in the archipelago, ways to strengthen adherence to local systems, instructions, customs and traditions, as well as the research of joint coordination mechanisms for the development of the tourism sector which contribute to improving the quality of services provided to visitors and maintaining the environmental and cultural identity of Sotra.
Governor Engr. Raftat Heghli emphasized the importance of organizing tourism activities in accordance with official laws and regulations, emphasizing "the necessity for tourism agencies to take responsibility in managing trips in accordance with the standards of preserving the Socotrian environment and its global status as a unique nature reserve. He also stressed the local authority to facilitate tourism measures within the framework of the efforts to encourage tourism, which is of importance in supporting the economy and providing job opportunities for the youth and the local community.
On his part, the lawyer Yahya bin Afrar pointed out that the culture and tourism sector in the governorate is of utmost importance. He also emphasized his keenness in organizing tourism, and this aspect is constantly followed, with full readiness to ease all the difficulties in front of tourist agencies.
The meeting concluded with a number of practical recommendations aimed at regulating tourism and strengthening its activity in the province, which maximizes the sector and contributes to its sustainable development.
