Yemen and Malaysia Discuss Strengthening Cultural and Tourism Cooperation in Kuala Lumpur

Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism Muammar Al-Eryani held official talks in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, with Malaysian Minister of Culture, Tourism, and the Arts, Dato' Sri Tiong Keng Seng. The talks addressed prospects for bilateral cooperation between the two countries and ways to develop it in the fields of culture, tourism, and the arts.


Minister Al-Eryani emphasized Yemen's keenness to benefit from Malaysia's pioneering experience in developing and promoting tourist destinations. He noted that preparations are underway to organize Yemeni cultural and tourism events in Malaysia in the coming months to promote Yemen's ancient history and civilization.


He emphasized the importance of signing a memorandum of understanding to enhance cultural and artistic exchange and organize joint art, book, and heritage exhibitions.


The Minister commended the efforts of the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and the Arts in supporting cultural diversity and preserving heritage, noting that the visit comes within the framework of expanding areas of joint cooperation, citing the experience of the Hadrami Orchestra, which performed at the Malaysian Cultural Palace in 2019.


He expressed his ministry's aspiration to develop joint tourism promotion programs that would contribute to attracting more tourists and achieving mutual benefits.


At the conclusion of the meeting, Al-Eryani expressed his thanks to the Malaysian Minister for the warm welcome and the facilities provided by the Malaysian government to Yemeni residents, stressing that this embodies the authentic values ​​of the Malaysian people and their commitment to strengthening the bonds of friendship. He also extended an invitation to his counterpart to attend the upcoming Yemeni cultural event in Kuala Lumpur.


For his part, the Malaysian Minister welcomed the visit and the delegation participating in the World Tourism Day 2025 events, affirming his country's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Yemen in the fields of culture and tourism and building solid bridges of cooperation.


He also directed the Malaysian Tourism Board to communicate with Yemeni travel agencies operating in Malaysia and provide them with all necessary facilities.


The meeting was attended by the Director General of the Malaysian Tourism Board, Datuk Manoharan Peria Sami, a number of senior officials from the Malaysian Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and the Arts, as well as the Director General of International Relations at the Yemeni Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Yousef Abu Ras.
