The specialized training course in the field of tourist guidance concluded today, Monday, in the interim capital, Aden. The course was organized by the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism in partnership with the #Tourism_Promotion_Council, and sponsored by His Excellency the Minister and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Council, Mr. Muammar bin Mutahhar Al-Eryani.
The course lasted for two days (September 21-22), with the participation of (28) male and female trainees from the Ministry of Tourism, the Aden Tourism Office, and a number of tourism and travel agencies. The goal was to provide them with modern knowledge and concepts in the field of tourist guidance and strategic tourism planning, and to introduce them to the role of the tourist guide and the professional requirements necessary for practicing this profession in accordance with approved standards.
The second and final day of the course included three main themes.
The first theme, presented by Dr. Zubaida Luqman, addressed sustainable tourism and heritage protection, including economic, environmental, and cultural sustainability; the protection of tangible and intangible heritage; and the role of tourism in supporting local communities. A training workshop was also held during which trainees presented proposals for sustainability mechanisms in nature reserves and archaeological sites.
The second theme, presented by Dr. Fatima Salem, focused on tourism marketing and promotion at the national level, external promotion mechanisms (international exhibitions and media campaigns), attracting investment, and strengthening public-private partnerships. The role of international organizations, such as UNESCO and the World Tourism Organization, was also discussed.
The third session, presented by Dr. Reda Abu Amara, addressed the topic of "Housekeeping" (Hospitality Services Management).
Proposals and Concepts
The session concluded with several outcomes, most notably: preparing initial strategic plans for developing tourism in Yemen, presenting proposals for supportive policies and legislation, developing concepts for national promotional campaigns, and proposing feasible model tourism projects.
At the conclusion of the session, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism for the Services and Activities Sector, Mr. Hussein Al-Sakab, praised the level of participation and interaction, urging the trainees to apply the knowledge they had acquired on the ground, thus contributing to improving the quality of services and developing the tourism sector.
Al-Sakab noted the Ministry of Tourism's keenness to organize such training programs to qualify cadres working in the sector, given their comprehensive themes that touch upon the essence of tourism work and contribute to raising its quality to keep pace with international practices.
Al-Sakab emphasized that this session comes within the framework of the efforts of the Ministry of Information, Culture, and Tourism, represented by His Excellency Minister Muammar bin Mutahhar Al-Eryani, to focus on developing and qualifying tourism personnel and modernizing the country's tourism environment. It enhances the provision of services that meet the aspirations of visitors and investors, and are consistent with regional and international standards.
