The Governor of Socotra Archipelago, Eng. Raafat Ali Ibrahim Al-Thaqli, inspected Socotra International Airport yesterday to review its preparations for receiving the new tourism season.
During the visit, Governor Al-Thaqli listened to an explanation from the airport’s leadership, management and staff regarding the ongoing preparations and arrangements for the tourism season, as well as the most prominent needs and requirements necessary to improve the level of performance and services provided to travelers and visitors.
Governor Al-Thaqli stressed the importance of completing the necessary arrangements to receive the tourism season, and of providing the airport’s needs in a way that contributes to facilitating the movement of travelers and offering appropriate services to visitors to the archipelago.
Governor Al-Thaqli praised the role of His Excellency the Minister of Transport, Mohsen Haidera Al-Omari, and the Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Meteorology, Captain Saleh bin Naheed, in supporting and following up on the civil aviation sector in the governorate. He also commended the efforts of the management and staff of Socotra International Airport in running operations and raising the level of services provided.
For his part, the Director of Socotra International Airport, Khalid Abdulrahim, reviewed the airport’s most prominent needs and the arrangements made to receive the tourism season, and appreciated the Governor’s visit and his interest in following up on the airport’s conditions and reviewing its needs.
The Governor was accompanied during the visit by the Advisor to the Minister of Tourism for Tourism Affairs in Socotra Archipelago, Abdullah Al-Hamid; the Governor’s Advisor for Security Affairs, Brigadier General Saleh Yaslem; the Assistant Director of the State Security Service in the governorate, Brigadier General Musa Ahmed; the Director General of the Tourism Office in the governorate, Mubarak Amer; and the Deputy Director General of the Airport, Omar Al-Da’ari.
