The Minister of Culture and Tourism, and Chairman of the Tourism Promotion Council, Eng. Mu’tie Dammaj, visited the Yemeni House Museum for Folk Heritage in the capital Aden, accompanied by the Executive Director of the Tourism Promotion Council, Ms. Intisar Al-Hudaili.
During the visit, the Minister reviewed the museum’s contents and heritage collections, which include traditional clothing, household items, traditional artifacts, and old weapons that reflect aspects of the diverse folk heritage of various governorates.
Eng. Mu’tie Dammaj praised the efforts of the museum’s owner and director, Ms. Najla Shamsan, in establishing the museum and preserving its heritage collections through individual initiatives and resources. He stressed the importance of such personal initiatives in protecting cultural heritage and preserving it for future generations.
The Minister of Culture and Tourism affirmed the importance of supporting and encouraging museums and initiatives focused on folk heritage, given their role in safeguarding heritage and protecting it from being lost. He also noted their role in strengthening its presence as one of the key elements for cultural and tourism attraction.
He pointed out that preserving folk heritage and presenting it in an appropriate manner contributes to raising awareness of cultural identity, and opens the way to utilizing heritage to stimulate tourism and promote cultural destinations and assets.
