The women's environmental awareness exhibition Journey of Survival opened today, Monday, in the city of Aden.
The exhibition is organized by the Ru’ya Center for Strategic Studies, Consultations and Training, with support and funding from the General Authority for Environmental Protection – Aden, and with backing from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Global Environment Facility (GEF), and the Small Grants Programme (SGP). It is part of the project to protect sea turtles in the Gulf of Aden.
The exhibition will run for two days, July 27–28, at Aden Mall, under the slogan From the Nest to the Sea... It’s Our Responsibility to Protect Them. It offers visitors an educational experience that highlights the world of sea turtles, their importance in maintaining ecological balance, the challenges they face, and ways to conserve them.
The exhibition features various sections that combine awareness and creativity, including:
- Information and photos about sea turtle species in the Gulf of Aden and their habitats
- Models and sculptures of turtles
- Artistic works and crafts made from natural materials reflecting the connection between humans, the environment, and the sea
- Eco-friendly products made by women
The exhibition also highlights the active role of women and coastal women's associations in protecting the marine environment and strengthening community participation in preserving natural resources and biodiversity. This is done through initiatives that spread environmental awareness and encourage nature-friendly behaviors.
The Journey of Survival exhibition aims to inform the community about the importance of sea turtles and their place in the ecosystem, shed light on the threats they face, and promote a culture of marine life protection. This reinforces community responsibility to preserve this natural heritage for future generations.
The organization of the exhibition is an important awareness step to strengthen partnership between environmental institutions and the local community, and to emphasize that protecting sea turtles is not the responsibility of one entity, but a collective responsibility that starts at the nest and extends to the sea.
